M. KONTOPOULOS Projects and Collaborations

Since SPECULATIVE last summer, I have been very busy teaching at different schools and working in the studio when I can. Over the summer, I will continue to teach Interactive Design 2 at Art Center College of Design — both in their regular curriculum and for the Art Center At Night program. ID2 is a comprehensive introduction to the Processing programming language. My course websites and examples of student work can be found in the Teaching section.

In the meanwhile, I have 3-4 projects underway in the studio. Please watch for documentation of new work in the Summer and Fall. My goal is to start producing and posting shorter term projects with greater frequency. In the blog section, I am posting documentation of some smaller, craftier projects, code experiments, etc.

I’m working on a redesign of this site. Coming soon. Please forgive any design or functionality hiccups until then.
Remember that my work can be found under the PROJECTS category. My video work can be seen on Vimeo as well.

Update: 3/19/2012. This will probably have to wait until the summer after all. But it is a major goal of mine. I’d like to work to be more accessible and more featured on my main page. I also would like to make it more of a weekly-to-monthly goal to update my blog more often with work in progress.

Best, Michael

I made a quick, fun project for the Machine Project annual member benefit (November 5, 2011). The theme was DMV: After Dark. It’s a competitve breathalyzer test. Party guests will blow into a small straw and their B.A.C. will be measured. The object of the game is to get it as close to PI (0.0314) as possible. An adjacent station will offer “adjustment pie” (savory vs. alcoholic) to help you adjust your BAC. In theory… Fun anyway! Documentation is coming soon.
