I am a Boston-based user-centered designer, artist and researcher with ten years of experience in art, communication and data-driven design. I am a passionate storyteller, maker and experimenter who can shift comfortably between lecturing on art to presenting in front of clients. My high-level mission as a designer is to use UX and Interaction Design as a vehicle to help educate and empower people and to engender human dignity. My mission in my ongoing studio work is to explore the social conditions that drive people to invent or create objects which subvert or question the status quo. In any creative context, I rely heavily on data, research and process in order to direct my decisions and bring evidence to my final solutions.
I have exhibited solo and collaborative projects in galleries, festivals and conferences in the U.S., Asia and Europe, including the Santa Monica GLOW Festival, the Sundance Film Festival, the TED conference, LACE Gallery in Los Angeles, CA. I was the winner of a 2010 Rhizome Commission for Emerging Artists, sponsored by the New Museum of New York. I occasionally lecture on programming, electronics and sculpture at the following colleges and universities: Art Center College of Design, UCLA, California State University, Long Beach and the University of Southern California.
I hold a BFA in Fine Art from Carnegie Mellon University and an MFA in Design and Media Arts from UCLA. I have also completed a User Experience Design intensive at General Assembly.
