My MFA show at UCLA’s department of Design | Media Arts is now open. I should have announced this before the opening, which was Thursday the 14th but was too wrapped up in finishing the work. It will be open normal gallery hours (weekdays from 10-5) until May 28. If you are in Los Angeles I encourage you to come and see my and my classmates work.
I’m proud to announce that Moon Theater, my collaborative project with Nova Jiang and Andres Colubri will be exhibited at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival! We will be showing the piece in the New Frontier gallery; A fairly new addition to the festival that invites media artists and interactive designers that work at the intersection of moving image, narrative, performance and interactivity.
I’ve just returned from Singapore where I and a classmate, Nova Jiang, have participated in an international student workshop at Lasalle College of Arts. While in Singapore, we collaborated on a quick and low-tech project that was inspired by Situationist ideas of wandering the city. It was a really great way to engage an unfamiliar city, and good research for my thesis. Documentation is now
I’ll be showing some new work at the second year graduate exhibition, MEGA 3 in the New Wight Gallery on UCLA’s campus. The piece i’m showing is called Removal Studies, and will be online very soon.
The show opened on October 16th and runs until the 31st. See here for directions and info.
I will be showing my Horizons piece at MonkeyTown, a gallery/bar/restaurant in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. I’ve re-cut the video onto four separate screens that will wrap around the audience and play from four synchronized DVD players.
Here is the info for the event. Anybody in New York is welcome to stop by!
I will be spending about five weeks in San Francisco interning with The Barbarian Group. It’s a <!–more–>non-traditional internship that I arranged with Robert Hodgins, co-founder and director of the SF office. I will be working, in collaboration with Robert and Chandler McWilliams, on an interactive installation to be displayed in the office.
On July 19th, I will be exhibiting a collaborative project at an outdoor festival in Santa Monica, CA called Glow. This festival will be an all night long dusk-to-dawn party with interactive installations all over the pier and beach area.
